Originally from San Ildefonso Ixtahuacán, Huehuetenango. Founder and active member of the Regional Consultative Council on Intercultural Bilingual Education (CCR EBI), her work focuses on educational policies and strategies for strengthening the Intercultural Bilingual Education model in the highland region of Guatemala. Activist and defender of the collective, specific and individual rights of indigenous peoples, especially of Mayan women, nationally and internationally.
