Tamalyn, as National Director of Common Hope, leads a team of approximately 140 people in Guatemala. She formed a Guatemalan leadership team to manage the operations and programs of the organization. Tamalyn was born in the USA and moved to Guatemala as a child. Her parents were missionaries, and she worked next to them with the children in the local market and in the rural areas of the country.
As a teenager, Tamalyn began working at Common Hope and other organizations as an interpreter, administrator and other types of fieldwork. Tamalyn graduated from Wesleyan College in International Relations, and returned to Guatemala in 1999 to be a member of the hospitality staff. She was Director of Hospitality in Common Hope in 2000, in 2001 she was appointed Site Director in Antigua, and since 2006 she is National Director.
Tamalyn has been active in Rotary, is the founder of a Network of Nonprofit Organizations in the Antigua area, and has been a member of the boards of Refugio de Esperanza and other nonprofit organizations in Guatemala. She is the proud mother of three active bicultural children.
